In 2014, the Vancouver Island Western Heritage Association (VIWHA) was formed by a committed group of volunteers including small business owners, farmers, cowboys and cowgirls. They are still involved in barrel racing, riding clubs including back-country groups, cattle sorting and other equestrian activities throughout the Island. Their common passion was recognizing Western heritage.
Our Constitution states that "The purpose of the Society is to provide educational, agricultural, sporting or other useful purposes related to promoting and celebrating western heritage by organizing and presenting public events that celebrate western heritage and western themes."
VIWHA's logo encompasses a Western hat, rope and wagon wheel, representing the past & present, and including the future.
